Company owners and Portland natives, Gordon & Pamela Anderson
met at Tigard High School in 1970, as did Gordon's parents approximately
20 years before. Married for 37 years as of September 2008,
they have two children, 34 year old Heather & 28 year old Jared. They
also have five grandchildren. Jared is now their premier
journeymen mechanic, and Heather who used to work in the family
business is now living a life of leisure at her home raising her
5 children with her husband in Vancouver.
"Anderson Door Mechanics" was incorporated
20 years ago this coming January with just Gordon and his cell
phone, operating from a desk in the corner of his bedroom and
driving to job-sites in a tooled-up two-tone station-wagon with
a rack on it, jokingly referred to as the "Batmobile" (long story).
Initially, our game plan involved working solely on DOORS because
that's all the company which Gordon worked for the previous 5
years worked on and also because the window market seemed to be
a very crowded market. But the Anderson's were surprised
to find that folks who trust you to work on their doors also want
to employ that same expertise to repair and install their WINDOWS. So,
in 2001, we added the word "Window" to our name and tooled-up
in earnest for marketing to the window trade as well.
Anderson Door & Window Mechanics, Inc.,
as we're now called, has generally been running a crew of between
12 and 15 personnel for approximately the past 12 years, including
office staff.
